Mumbai, the name itself now raises unprecedented questions in the light of unprecedented events. ‘Unprecedented’ – the word that flashes on all newspapers, uttered on all news channels and now printed on the tongue of every Indian.
It has been over a week now since the unprecedented’ 26/11 and what Mumbai feels…is a million dollar question to me. What does Mumbai want and what do I want…. I have no clue. Honesty, on that day and the weekend following that terrible day I was strongly of the opinion and I was not ashamed to utter it loud ..I wanted ‘War" war on terrorism war on terrorist and war on my neighboring two countries that have been linked to this…but then is war a solution??
The huge gathering of people at the gateway on India on the 3rd Dec’08 that marked one week of the horrifying attack resounded these and several other sentiments of a million Indians. They want action, they want a reaction and they want patriotism and to do so none not a single gathered Indian denied to be a martyr….I’ll join the army, I’ll give my life for my country, I’ll prefer to die in honor rather while dining with my family etc. etc. were words that tore the light of symbolic candles.
I hear people say
…is this the solution we seek? Our government is failing, our politicians lack sentiments, internal communal wars are on, Christians being attacked, North Indians being attacked…yet we want war…
We need awakening, terror is at our doorstep because we let it come here, we left our guard down we let are internal fights help external forces to take over. We Indians need to be united. I think the mantra should be ‘united we stand divided we fall’ and ‘united we stand against terror both internal and external’.
Tomorrow, it is the 16th anniversary to the ‘Babri Masjid’ tragedy….am I scared …yes…but…Do I still want war…no I want solution, I want a secure India, I want a strategic India, I want my India.
