India rejects OIC’s observations on Jammu & Kashmir

India has strongly reacted to the observations on Jammu and Kashmir made by the Organisation of Islamic Countries in its final document released in its recently held summit at Dakar, Senegal.

The Secretary-General of the 57 members the Organisation of Islamic Countries, Mr.Ekmeleddin Ibsanoglu,in the final document released after the conclusion of the summit, after March 13 th and 14 th, described Jammu and Kashmir as a pressing and burning political dispute.

India’s External Affairs Ministry reacting strongly to the OIC’s observation on Jammu and Kashmir has rejected the comments saying that Jammu and Kashmir is the internal affairs of India and OIC has no locus  standi to interfere in the internal affairs of India including the Jammu and Kashmir. It was also observed that it is customary that OIC used to pass such comments during its meet.

The External Affairs Minstry of India has also took strong exceptions over the OIC’s remarks and concerns about the use of indiscriminate use of force and violation of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir and India’s rejection of allowing a fact finding commission into Jammu and Kashmir.

The External Affairs Ministry also made it known that OIC’s observations have been made at a time when the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved a lot than what it was five years ago and in the present day Jammu and Kashmir, the State  Government headed by Gulam Nabi Asad has proposed to conduct  assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir shortly.

India is also unhappy and displeased over the OIC’s observation that India is treating the legitimate struggle of Kashmir militants for independance as terrorism.

However the OIC has welcomed the composite dialogue process entered into between India and Pakistan and at the same time it lauded Pakistan alone for many of its improvements in the blilateral relations overlooking the fact that India was also a party to the normalisation of relations and improvements.

To say the least,OIC has been biased  and partisan in its approach towards Indo-Pak relations .
