Indian Air force airlifts three serious patients

Srinagar, March 6 (Scoop News) –Indian Airforce airlifted three serious patients, including one pregnant lady, from Barnai (Gurez), Dudhi (Machhil) and Keran (Tangdhar) today. The patients had been referred by the concerned Medical Officers to Srinagar for specialised treatment and in case they would not have been airlifted there was apprehension that they would die. Gurez, Macchil and Tangdhar are cut off due to snowfall.

Aamir Ali,Coordinator, Disaster Management said that Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Samoon had requisitioned AOC J&K, Indian Airforce to arrange the air-rescue of the serious patients. Despite inclement weather IAF made two attempts on Saturday to airlift the patients but due to bad weather the chopper could not reach the area. Today, despite being Sunday and despite unfavourable weather conditions, the pilot of the Cheetah helicopter, flew to these areas, one by one and in three sorties, airlifted the patients, alongwith their attendants to Srinagar.

Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar had deployed his ambulance at the Technical Airport, Srinagar and the patients were immediately shifted to Lal Ded Hospital, SMHS Hospital & Bone & Joint Hospitals, were the patients are undergoing specialised treatment.

The patients & their attendants appreciated the prompt action of IAF due to which their precious lives were saved.

Meanwhile, AN-32 Kargil Courier aircraft of IAF, landed at Kargil from Chandigarh today, but due to unfavourable weather conditions it could not operate for Srinagar/Jammu and therefore had to return to Chandigarh.

Kargil bound passengers stranded at Srinagar & Jammu have urged Divisional Administration & IAF to deploy additional aircraft sorties to clear the stranded passengers. Divisional Commissione has announced that subject to weather, IAF will deploy two aircrafts which would make two to three sorties each, between Kargil/Jammu and Kargil/Srinagar on Monday 7th March, so that the stranded passengers are airlifted.
