Jammu, July 17 (Scoop News) –The Indian Air Force came to the rescue of eight pilgrims today when the IAF’s efforts were requisitioned by the District Administration Jammu to rescue eight pilgrims who got stuck at the foothills of Har Ki Pouri Temple due to flash floods in river Tawi in Jammu.
According to Defence PRO that two families came from Kanpur to visit Mata Vaishnoo Devi. The family members went to the temple at around 3-30 PM today when they were stuck up over a stone due to sudden rise in water level.
The District Administration had sent its three personnel towards helping them but because of the continuously rising level of waters of Tawi they also got stuck and finally IAF efforts were requisitioned. The IAF responding promptly as always pressed its Mi-17 chopper into service and evacuated the stranded pilgrims and flew them to Jammu to safety,said Defence PRO.
