Indian Education is Neglected, Yet Their Youth Will Lead the World?

In India, schooling ranges from advanced degrees in colleges, to children being forced to study in one-room schools with no drinking water or toilets.  In Daliganj, an area of India, there is a school where this is just the case.

This school is not new.  It has been around for nearly 8 years, yet the Education Officer was not aware of it.  When questioned by Gunjan Singh, a Video Volunteers correspondent, the Officer refused to acknowledge the school’s situation.

Gunjan Singh did not stop digging for answers so easily.  She next tried to interview the principle, but he refused to speak about any questions and asked her to turn off the camera.  The principal was afraid of losing his job.

Through my travels in India, it is clear to me that India has many social issues that must be addressed.  At the same time, India’s economy is predicted to grow, and by the year 2050, the BRIC’s TOI report predicts that India could have the second largest economy behind China.

The question must be asked, "Why are the children of India neglected when they are the world’s future?"
