The Congress led UPA is all set to retain power at the Centre putting up an impressive performance in various states of country .
Congress led UPA taking a big lead over the NDA. The results of all the 543 constituencies are now available. The Congress and its allies have bagged 261 seats.The BJP-led NDA is far behind winning 157 seats. The Third Front which includes the Left, the TDP and the AIADMK wins 59 seats.The Fourth Front of SP, RJD and LJP got 27. BSP has got 21 seats. Eighteen seats go in favour of others and Independents.
Meanwhile Dr. Manmohan Singh told the media that the people of India have voted for a secular government. He urged all secular forces to join hands in this hour of crisis to stand united. He said the people have reposed their faith in the leadership of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress President, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has made it clear that Dr. Manmohan Singh will be the Prime Minister of the new Government. Thanking the people for reposing their confidence in UPA in the General Elections, she said, the people of India knows what is good for them.
While talking to reporters together with Dr. Manmohan Singh, the beaming Sonia Gandhi said, the new Government will fulfill the promises made to the people.
Prof. Saifuddin Soz, Union Minister of Water Resources and President, Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee said, “It is a great victory the credit for which will go straightaway to the UPA Chairperson, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Hon’ble Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh who showed great acumen to lead the nation and solve the problems of the common people all these years. It is in no less measure a victory due to dynamism shown by Shri Rahul Gandhi in providing proper leadership to the youth across the country.
I also heartily congratulate the people of India, irrespective of caste, colour and creed, who have rejected sectarian, divisive and parochial politics and voted overwhelmingly for peace, progress and solidarity of India,said Soz.
He said, I take this opportunity particularly to congratulate the people of Jammu & Kashmir State who have completely rejected the forces representing extremism and disharmony and voted in a spectacular manner for peace, progress and togetherness of people in the State.”
