Indian Institute of Management,Bangalore, to hold RAT besides CAT

    The prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore has proposed to hold RAT (Research Aptitude Test), besides CAT (Common Admission Test), from the current academic year.

     CAT(Common Admission Test) is held throughout India, enabling the aspirants to seek admissions in prestigious management institutions like IIMs located in Bangalore,Ahamedabad,Kolkatta etc.

    Those who want to pursue research programmes in the above mentioned prestigious institutions have to appear for GRE and GMAT etc, whose valid score is a must for getting admission into research fellowships in the above said prestigious management institutions.

   But IIM, Bangalore, in its efforts for revamping research programmes, has decided to introduce RAT (Research Aptitude Test)from the current academic year onwards. Those who qualify in the RAT will have to undergo further admission process in the IIM, Bangalore.Those who appear in RAT, need not appear in GRE and GMAT etc, to get admission into the research programmes of IIM, Bangalore.

   IIM, Bangalore,in order to enhance its prestige and augment the research programmes has also enhanced the contingency grants being granted to the research fellowships to Rs 50,000/-Monthly allowance to research fellowships are increased from Rs 10,000/ to Rs 15,000/- and the house rent allowance is also enhanced from Rs 5,000/ to Rs 8,000/-.

   The above steps have been taken to promote research programmes and increase sponsorship from industries, in the IIM, Bangalore.
