Dr. Abdullah was addressing a large gathering at a function organized by the management of Madr-e-Meharban Institute of Health Sciences at Kote Bhalwal in connection with Bhoomi Poojan of new building of the Institute here today.
Advocating the need for adopting solar energy as alternate source of energy to save power, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah has asked the State Government to formulate a comprehensive proposal to provide solar lights to all the un-electrified areas of the State.
Dr. Abdullah said that Centre is laying stress on massive use of solar energy everywhere in view of great shortage of power in the entire country.
Lauding the efforts of Madr-e-Meharban Institute in providing quality education to the students in the field of para-medicos, Dr. Abdullah asked the management to produce quality products so that they can serve the patients with more zeal and dedication. He congratulated the management for extending its activities to more fields related to healthcare, the Union Minister hoped that with the construction of its own infrastructure, the Institute will further gear up its activities.
To further promote the para-medical education, the
Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma said that Government is keen in promoting Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the health sector to further improve the health services in the State. He said that Government has constituted a high-level Task Force under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah with prominent doctors of the country, including founder Director of SKIMS, Dr. Nagpal as its Members, which will suggest measures to further improve the health facilities in the Government institutions.
Admitting the paucity of trained para-medical staff in the State, the Minister said that Government has decided to set up AMT Schools at district level to train adequate manpower. He lauded the role of the Madr-e-Meharban Institute for imparting quality training to the para-medicos and supplementing Government efforts.
Sharma assured the management that Government will extend necessary logistic support to the Institute.
Minister for Medical Education, R.R.Chib appreciated the management for spreading its activities in the field of para-medical training. He said that Government is committed to promote private sector in health sector to overcome the shortage of trained manpower.

MLA and President of the Madr-e-Meharban, Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal in his address said that his mother, in whose name this Institute has been established, always advocated the cause of poor and distressed and worked for the upliftment of downtrodden. He said that the endeavour of the management is to help the poor sections of the society and make them self reliant. He said that Institute provides special concessions to the poor and destitute.
Dr. Kamal sought necessary support from the State Government to upgrade the infrastructural facilities as per norms. He also demanded setting up of a tube-well in the area.
