Indian PM assures JK CM full financial & logistic support to make J&K Model State

 

 

          New Delhi July 20- (Vijay Kumar)- The Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh assured the Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister of his full support in making J&K a model State with all the financial and logistic support from Government of India

 

 According to official spokesperson ,Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah called on the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi today.  The two leaders discussed in great detail the developmental agenda of Jammu and Kashmir.  The outlay of the annual plan 2009-10 for an amount of Rs. 6500 crores was discussed threadbare with its different components and how this outlay will help in achieving the developmental objective of the State.  The other issues discussed during the meeting was extension of Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan till the end of the 11th Five Year Plan.

           Official spokesperson said, the Chief Minister laid strong emphasis, during the meeting, that the funding pattern of all the Centrally Sponsored Schemes should be of the ratio of 90:10 on an uniform basis. The issue relating to the four lanning of the National Highway, which has direct relation for improving the economy of different regions of the State was discussed.

            In order to meet the expenditure on account of implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendation, the Chief Minister, requested the Prime Minister for release of interim relief to meet the requirements on this count. 

            Another issue which was discussed in detail with the Prime Minister was continuation of Power Reform Grant to the State Govt. for the next five years.

           Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, also met with the Union Power Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde and discussed with him various issues pertaining to the Power scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by the officers of Power Ministry, Central Water Commission and NHPC Limited. Mr. Omar Abdullah laid stress on the task of integrated development of power sector in the state describing it hub for socio-economic development of the state.

            Regarding financing of the Baglihar Phase II, Mr. Omar Abdullah made it clear that the project is very important for the State to augment its power resources and its early completion will steer the entire economics of the State in a positive direction. The Union Power Minister agreed to take up the matter with the Planning Commission for financing the Phase II of the Baglihar Power Project.
