Indian Prime Minister arrived Kashmir on a 2-day visit (Ist take)

 

Srinagar, June 07(Scoop News) –Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh today arrived here on a 2-day visit. At the Technical Airport, the Prime Minister was received by the Governor,  N.N. Vohra, Chief Minister,  Omar Abdullah, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Speaker Legislative Assembly,  Mohammad Akbar Lone, Dy. Chief Minister,  Tara Chand, Members of the State Council of Ministers,  Dy. Chairman Legislative Council, JK PCC Chief, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz  and top ranking Army, Civil and Police officers including State Chief Secretary and Director General of Police.

            The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Union Minister for Health,  Ghulam Nabi Azad and other dignitaries of the Central Government.

            The Prime Minister is scheduled to address Convocation of Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at SKICC in Srinagar in evening.

The visit had raised hopes that the PM would reach out to the separatists and bring them back to the negotiating table, but J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said there are no talks with separatists scheduled on Dr Singh’s agenda.

Meanwhile Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Bhat said the separatists were in no hurry to have a dialogue and called for direct talks with the PM.
