India’s ‘Congress Has Conceded Defeat’

Omar Abdullah, President National Conference (NC) said that the Congress has conceded defeat in the ensuing state assembly elections.  The arrival of the Union External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here today just to address a Press Conference and to announce that the Congress is ready for post poll alliances is symptomatic of the fact that at the end of the five phases Congress has realized that it has miserably failed in these elections and are now making desperate last minute efforts to garner votes in the sixth and seventh phase.

He said at the beginning of the elections and uptill now the Congress state and Central leadership has been claiming that it will get enough numbers to form the government on its own, now that they are talking of alliances clearly indicates that they have seen the writing on the wall. Omar who was addressing a public meeting at Berthana in Batmaloo assembly constituency in support of Irfan Ahmad Shah said he is confident on the basis of the reports received so far that state will not have a coalition government and instead there will be a single party National Conference government.

He said some people in New Delhi have never wanted a stable one party government in the state and instead have been trying their best to somehow divide the mandate of the people. However, people of Jammu & Kashmir will once again defeat their dubious design by giving an absolute clear majority to the National Conference, he asserted. Omar said that at the end of the five phases of the state assembly elections, the PDP is also demoralized and now in their desperation are trying to deceive people by spreading canards and unleashing false propagandas.

Omar said the PDP having almost got nothing in the first five phases is solely depending on the sixth phase which he said will also throw an unpleasant surprise for them(PDP) tomorrow.  Castigating the erstwhile PDP-Congress coalition,  Omar said that this government brought miseries and disharmony within the state and the National Conference government which will be a single party government will provide a stable government which will be committed for the welfare of the people of the state and shall work for their welfare.

Omar said my party will come out with a special package for employment of the youth and shall open new vistas of employment for the young unemployed and ensure that in each household of the state there is atleast one earning hand. He also promised that National Conference government will provide stipend to the unemployed till they are employed beside will strive hard to resolve the issues like, electricity crisis, water problem and will provide better educational facilities, health care facilities, infrastructure, road connectivity etc, with which the areas remained deprived off during the six years of coalition rule.
