The prestigious Oxford University would introduce a fullfledged P.G.Course, viz., Master of Science in contemporary India from the academic year commencting october 2008.
The syllabi of the study would contain subjects like economic growth of India inspite of contraints, unity in diversity, her handling of social, political and economic issues within a democratic framework. The Course would also provide an opportunity to the students to analyse the factors that has transformed the Country into an Information Technology giant. Her consistent economic growth especially in the last five years or so would figure into the study material.
According to Prof.Babara Harris White, there has been an overwhelming interest on the part of students to pursue the study. She added that Dr.monteck Singh Ahulwalia, the present Deputy Chairman of the National Plaaning commision would be conferred with the Doctorate in Civil Law. He was an Alumini of the University where he did his P.G. in Economics and Law. He was also a Rhodes Scholar.
He is an acknowledged international economic expert and an architect of Indian Economic Reforms.
