India’s Rural Regions Reach Out to Bollywood to Boost Tourism

 

Calling upon the Mumbai Film Industry to come and shoot in Jammu and Kashmir, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that the State offers unmatched locales for shooting of films, which the filmmakers will discover only when they come and visit the State.

 

Interacting with a Mumbai-based film producer, Sunil Kapoor in Jammu on Thuresday, Mr. Jora said the State government would provide all possible help to the filmmakers for shooting their films here. 

The Minister said besides Kashmir valley, the State is also blessed with other tourist attractions in Ladakh and Jammu regions, which also provide vast and varied potential for film production houses, adding that shooting films in the J&K is much cheaper as compared to that in Europe.

Asking the Minister to extend logistical support to the film units coming to Kashmir, Mr. Kapoor informed the Minister that his film unit has already started shooting of his forthcoming film – Love in Kashmir and completed 30 per cent production, adding that he would like to shoot more films in Kashmir. He said the rest of the shooting will also be done in the Valley. Mr. Jora assured the producer that all necessary support will be extended to his crew in hassle-free shooting of his film. 

 

Responding favourably to the queries of Mr. Kapoor, the Minister said the State government would provide all possible assistance to the film producers to to shoot their films in the State. He directed Secretary Tourism, Mrs. Tanveer Jehan to facilitate the film unit by providing boarding and lodging facilities, besides other support required by them.
