CHITRAL: Indigenous sports festival of snow golf finalized at scenic valley of Kalash at Shekhandeh. The final match was played between Shekhandeh (Muslim community ) team versus Broon (Kalash community) team in which Shekhandeh team defeated Bron team with 8 goal than 5 goals and won the trophy.
Lady MPA Bibi Fauzia was chief guest on the occasion who awarded trophy and cups to the players. The tournament was organized by Culture department Khyber Pahtoon Khwa, Ayun and Valley development Program and KPDN. Major Yasir of Pak Army, SHO police station Bumborat Abdul Fateh and other elites also distributed cups and awards among the players.
on the winning of final match according to their tradition since 1100 years captain of the winner team was declared King (Mehtar) for 3 days of the valley and all of residents of the valley are bound to obey his order.
Talking to this scribe newly chosen King (Mehtar) Abdul Jameel of Shekhandeh said that he was selected as Mehtar for 3 days and he will try to engage his people in repairing of roads, stream, water channel and other social activities. I will also settled disputes among the different rival groups and to take back their rights from other group if that was taken by force illegally he added. He will slaughter a bull for the people who coming their for congratulation.
Addressing to the gathering on the occasion Bibi Fauzia said that being a parliamentarian secretary of tourism of KPK she will try of her best to declare this special and unique event as calendar one to be celebrate under government umbrella.
Wazir Zada Kalash manager of AVDP, Faizi Khan captain of runner up team, Abdul Jameel captain of winner team, Major Yasir and other also spoke on the occasion and thanked of all community who fully cooperated to success this unique festival of snow hokey.
A large number of people were present on the occasion who enjoyed the match. At last newly selected King was raised on shoulders by his supporters and was carried to his house on a horse and he nominated his cabinet who will issue orders to the public of the valley for 3 days.
