Leh/Jammu, October 01 (Scoop News) – A border personnel meeting was organized between India and China on Friday at Chinese Flag Meeting Hut towards Chinese side, to celebrate the 61st Anniversary of Peoples Republic of China.
Defence spokesperson Lt Col Biplab Nath said that the Indian delegation led by Brigadier Ajay Kumar, SM was received by Chinese delegation leader Senior Colonel Awang Yang Pei. After the reception, the Chinese National flag was hoisted and both the Chinese and Indian delegations saluted the flag.
In the formal meeting held in an atmosphere of mutual trust and camaraderie, greetings were exchanged by both the sides. Both sides agreed to contribute towards peace, stability and development of the region in consonance with Border Peace and Tranquility Agreements signed between the two countries, Biplab said.
After the formal meeting, the Chinese delegation presented cultural programme. The friendly interactions between the two Armies have played a significant role in promoting and strengthening bonds of friendship, mutual trust and confidence between the two nations. Also through these interactions, the border representatives of both institutions have been able to understand each other’s culture, traditions and customs.
It may be mentioned here that in the recent years in order to improve the bilateral relations, India and China have signed two landmark agreements namely “Peace and Tranquility Agreement in 1993” and “Confidence Building Measures” in 1996. To improve the relations further, Border Personnel Meetings are held seven times a year, between the Indian and Chinese Military Delegations.
