IKFS also requested to name the University as “Marhoom Mohamed Ali Shihab Thangal Memorial Arabic University”.

IKFS in their statement send to Scoop News, said that IKFS can provide 10 acre land in Kannur District with a reasonable price for the establishment of the ARABIC University if Kerala Government required. IKFS recommended to invite Arab Ambassadors and Representatives of various NRI Associations in Gulf countries during the laying of foundation stone ceremony for the proposed University.

IKFS Vice President Advocate Sayid Mohamed Nizar Thangal endorsed while saying that IKFS team can use their good offices to provide beyond an employer-employee relationship in the Arab countries especially in the 6 Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Students who graduate should have basic skills to translate dual language i.e. Arabic Vs. English and vice versa. Accordingly, there are proven opportunities of employment such as translators, Executive Secretaries, Arabic proof readers, Arabic news readers etc…. The centuries-old association of Kerala with the Arab world, even pre-dating Islam, and the cultural influence of the Arabs in a variety of spheres, including literature, linguistics and history should also be considered as an added value for this noble venture.

IKFS has earlier submitted memorandum thru their Patron K.M. Shaji, a Member of Legislative Assembly of Kerala State when he visited Kuwait during March 2013.
In fact, IKFS is delighted to hear the news of unanimous endorsement of such decision “after one year of our memorandum submitted”. In the initial phase, the university should offer Graduate programs in BA Arabic Language and Literature, Comparative Linguistics, Comparative Literature, Translation, Classical Languages and Literature, International Studies and Islamic Economics and Finance.

The University should have jurisdiction all over Kerala. A statement issued by IKFS argues that Arabic is still used as the mother-tongue language for more than 500 million people in Asian and African Continents especially the Arabian and Gulf countries in addition to one of the official languages of United Nations. “Learning Arabic will increase job opportunities for Indian students.” IKFS says that there are more than 10 million Indian expatriates working in Gulf Arab countries and majority of them are poor in Arabic conversation. “Therefore, for Indian expatriates the establishment of an Arabic university will help them adjust better to work in these countries,” opined IKFS.
IKFS in the memorandum indicated that University such as “Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS)” established in the State of Kerala in 1993 to impart knowledge of Sanskrit as well as Indology, Indian Culture, Indian Languages, Indian Philosophy, Fine Arts, Foreign Languages and Social Science. There are more Sanskrit colleges in the states of Bihar, Delhi. Under the “Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme”, States have been asked to set up new universities and as per the initiative of the government.
Dr Ghalib Al-Mashoor, IKFS President said that “We are grateful to Vice Chairman T.P. Sreenivasan “The Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC)” for their unanimous endorsement of establishing Arabic University, during the first week of May, 2014 and the recommendation placed to the government for the constitution of an Arabic university in the State.
