Information dept acts as a bridge between people & Government: Sagar

Jammu, December 9 (Scoop News) -Complementing the Information Department for organizing the function of highlighting the achievement of government,the Minister for Rural Development,  Ali Mohammad Sagar said that their role is pivotal in disseminating the policy programmes of the Government for the welfare of the general masses. He said that the department acts as a bridge between the people and the Government as they effectively portray the working of the Government, besides giving information about the various welfare schemes and development programmes.

Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad sagar was speaking in a function ,organised by Directorate of Information and Public Relations. The achievement made during the last two years in the field of Rural Development, MGNREGA, Rural Sanitation, SGSY were projected in a magnificent exhibition held at Abhinav theatre here today  in which thousands gathered to witness the photo and film exhibition, organised by Directorate of Information and Public Relations.

Ali Mohammad Sagar and Minister of State for Hajj and Aquaf formally released the film on the achievements made in the sector. It was highlighted in the film and exhibition that J&K is the first State which made remarkable achievements in MGNREGA sector, which was acknowledged at National and International level.

While appreciating the department of Information and Public Relation particularly remarkable presentation made by Director Information, Khwaja Farooq Renzu Shah  Ali Mohammad Sagar said that these occasions are becoming really historical and nostalgical when all these events are presented in a visual and still capsule. These events are eye opener for those who try to adopt ostrich approach with regard to development, he added.

            The Minister agreed with the remarks made by Director Information that society is divided between two separate ideologies- one majority ideology represents the ideology of development and construction while as another represents the phenomenon of destruction and negativism. “We all have to pool our resources together to defeat the forces of destruction by honestly devoting all our energy in the arena of construction so that welfare of majority of the people is encompassed in this positive spectrum”, he said. He appreciated daily Aks-Parvaaz programme produced by Directorate of Information which is gaining popularity day by day and catching imagination of the people towards development.  

Sagar said that Government is determined to hold Panchyats polls to devolve power to the people and strengthen grass root democracy. He said establishing Panchayat Raj is necessary to make common man real stake-holder in policy formulation and implementation, adding the system would also facilitate securing of more funds for rural development from the Centre.

            Downplaying politicking on proposed panchayat polls,  Sagar said the only motive behind the move is to empower people at grass-root level. He said Panchayat Raj is effective mechanism to make common man his own master, adding that Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah always championed the cause of devolution of powers to strengthen grassroot democracy.

 

             Sagar asked the people not to fall prey to the vicious propaganda unleashed by certain parties, who he said are bent upon to plunge the State into chaos, the Minister said that such forces are real enemies of people as they run their political shops by triggering violence and fomenting trouble. He said they have been responsible for the colossal losses suffered by the people of the State in various spheres like education, tourism and other related fields over the last months.

          The trophies of honour were presented on behalf of Information Department by Director Information, Khwaja Farooq Renzu Shah to  Sagar and Ajaz Ahmed Khan amidst thumping jam packed audience of Abhinav theatre.

            The Director and other senior officers of Information and Rural Development Departments and prestigious personalities of print and electronic media besides concerned coverage staff, who have covered each and every second of the achievements made during last two years in Rural Development sector. 

            Minister of State for Rural Development,  Aijaz Ahmad Khan, while speaking on the occasion complemented the Information Department for properly projecting the achievements registered by the Government. He said that they effectively pastray the working of the Government and its different departments and agencies.

            Earlier, the Director Information presented welcome address and explained objectives of the mega exhibition and documentary film. He said Rural Development department has brought cheers to the State’s people after it scalped top most slot in the implementation of MG NREGA in the entire country.
