Information Minister of state is beaten up by angry lawyers and journalists

 

“Election Commission of Pakistan has approved nomination papers of President General Parvez Musharaf today on Saturday 29-9-2007, violence broke out before the building of Election Commission in Islamabad, when agitating lawyers have tried to stage a protest demonstration despite of imposition of section 144, the section bars any sort of public meeting in the area where it is imposed, some 500 lawyers have reached near Election Commission building, clashes between police and lawyers were started, 17 police officers are injured, journalists were also beaten up by police one among them is critically injured, when Information Minister of state Mr. Tariq Azeem has reached the trouble spot, he was also beaten up by angry lawyers and journalists, Mr. Aitizaz Ahsan an eminent lawyer is also manhandled when he reeached before the building of Election Commission Islamabad. In Peshaswer protesting journalists when had reached near Governor House are also tear gassed by police,” eyewitnesses have said.

"Mr. Aitizaz has received few punches , during scuffle between angry lawyers and policemen, he was saved by another lawyer who had thrown himself on him to provide him his body shield, one arm of the lawyer is broken now, Aitizaz is not critically injured," peoples party leader has said.
