Bangalore: They were all set for a dream start to their careers. But they never made it. On Thursday, five young techies from Infosys Technolgies died when the bus in which they were travelling overturned, killing them and injuring 38 others in Belgaum. The five promising youngsters, who were part of 43-member Infosys trainee group, were returning to Pune from Mysore after finishing their training.
According to the police, driver of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, in which the trainees were travelling, lost control while negotiating a sharp turn at the Tawandi ghat, on the Bangalore- Pune highway. The driver, Devraj Gowda, tried to control it but the bus swerved and hit the road divider.The vehicle, eyewitnesses said, rolled thrice before landing near the divider. “Such was the impact that the front axle of the bus came off along with the wheels,” Sankeshwar police station sub-inspector Manjunath.
