Jayapradha,a Samata Party M.P in India had faced legal problems in Chennai, out of which she has been exonerated today by the Chennai High Court.
Jayapradha, an erstwhile popular Telugu Heroine and even starred in some famous Tamil Movies like ‘Salangai Oli’ pairing with Kamala Hasan, has owned two theatres, Midland and Jayapradha in the close proximity of Mount Road, Chennai.Perhaps being busy in politics, she could not attend to them or the theatres were not entrusted to the proper persons for management. In the result, corporation Tax to be paid by the theatre was defaulted and she fell into arrears.
Chennai corporation in order to recover the tax arrears filed a suit against her and the two theatres were attached for realising a sum of Rs 1,68,000/-.A few days ago, Corporation authorities, pursuant to an attachment order from the court, proceeded to attach the theatres and even sealed them.
Some other persons had also filed a petition against her for declaring her as insolvent since she fell into arrears to Chennai corporation. An exparte order was passed against her by the Chennai High Court in the year 2006, declaring Jayapradha as insolvent.
When the things had gone from bad to worst, Jayapradha M.P came to Chennai along with party functionaries and supporters, paid the entire arrears of Tax that was due to the Chennai corporation. In the result the attachment orders passed against her theatres were revoked.Since she had paid the entire Corporation tax arrears that was due to the Chennai Corporation, the order of insolvency passed against her by the Chennai High court was also revoked.
Thus Jayapradha M.P had got freed herself from all the legal tangles that surrounded her and heaved a big sigh of relief.
