Mohan Chand Sharma, the Inspector of Delhi Police who was killed in an encounter with militants, will be cremated in New Delhi on Saturday evening.
The 43-year-old officer of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell will be cremated at the Nigambodh Ghat at around 4 pm, Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said.
Sharma served the city police for years before he succumbed to bullet injuries sustained during a fierce encounter with five heavily-armed terrorists at a house in south Delhi on Friday.
Considered an encounter specialist and posted with elite anti-terror squad Special Cell, Sharma was a highly decorated officer with seven gallantry medals to his credit, including President’s Medal for Gallantry.
