Jammu, May 01 (Scoop News) – Chairman of RK Bharati Foundation King C Bharti has said that Prof Amitabh Matoo is an intellectual of international repute and his appointment would bring the Central University of Jammu to the international levels taking the students of Jammu to the international foras’.
In a statement he said that the foundation was in favour of a local as Vice Chancellor but when the person like Prof Matoo was appointed we should welcome the decision of the Government of India because we have seen the working of Prof Matoo earlier where he brought laurels for the University of Jammu to the extent that now University of Jammu was recognized as one of the top learning institutions of India and world..
He criticized the organizers of Jammu Bandh against the appointment of Prof Amitabh Matoo as the first Vice Chancellor of Jammu Central University with the plea that the intellectuals of the level of Prof Matoo are beyond any religious or geographical boundaries and stalling his appointment was great injustice to the higher education of the Jammu region.
Bharati said that adopting such a confrontationist attitude for an intellectual and institution builder of international repute was not the loss of Prof Matoo but that of the student community of Jammu who would benefit from his expertise in the field.
He said that Prof Matoo’s appointment was resented earlier by such selfish people but he proved to be an asset to the higher education of Jammu taking the University of Jammu to the international levels.
He asked the organizers of Jammu Bandh to look beyond the regional politics and see that the appointment of such an intellectual par excellence would benefit none but Jammuites.
King said we must not lose an institution builder of international repute for petty regional politics and let him build a world class institution in the shape of Central University of Jammu so that any local can takeover from him adding don’t ask for local engineer to build a top class building even before entering it only to satisfy the ego of certain disgruntled elements.
