ISLAMABAD: Terrorism and extremism are affecting both Afghanistan and Pakistan, said Presidents Pervez Musharraf and Hamid Karzai, and both countries are aiming to share intelligence to eliminate these problems.
Addressing a brief joint press conference here on Wednesday, President Musharraf described the meeting with his Afghan counterpart as very positive.
He said serious talks were held between the two in connection with the problems being faced by the two countries besides bilateral relations, eradication of terrorism and other matters.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai discussed the success of the first Jirga, from which President Musharraf was at first conspicuously absent, as well as the holding of a second Jirga in Pakistan.
President Musharraf indicated that besides working towards developing strong regional commercial and trade ties, the two countries have worked towards developing a strong relationship as far as communication is concerned.
President Karzai agreed with Musharraf’s assesment of the success of the meeting, and said that both governments were working towards bringing peace and stability to the families of both countries.
Both leaders said that while terrorism may have decreased in Afghanistan, it has correspondingly increased in Pakistan.
