Srinagar, January 23, (Scoop News)- National Conference on Friday termed the intentional hurting of Muslims sentiments as unacceptable and said such tendencies aim to spread disaffection and turmoil in the world. NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar has said while freedom of expression is a right it also comes with sensitive responsibilities towards fellow human-beings. “From what we are seeing – the tendency to provoke and hurt Muslims through blasphemous content is becoming a serious threat to peace. It is very important that in all such cases, both provocation and violence should be condemned unequivocally”, NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said after offeringFriday Prayers in Srinagar.
NC General Secretary said mischief mongering should be discouraged by the Western Countries rather than glorified as some sort of a manifestation of freedom of expression. “Freedom of expression does not mean freedom to hurt. Deliberate, well-designed provocations by hurting religious sentiments should be thwarted and those behind such tactics should be exposed”, Sagar further said.
