The fan, named Gabriele Sandri, 26-year-old 26-year-old died at the service station near Arezzo.
Police had moved in to quell fighting between rival sets of supporters, according to the reports which suggest Sandri may have died from a gunshot wound.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) moved quickly to postpone the match at the San Siro in Milan while other games will kick off 10 minutes later than scheduled.
