The recent increase in the interest rate all around Australia had also seen a big jump into the affordability of everything from the everyday expenses(groceries, petrol, etc) to the most important need of every family around the world-a roof above their heads.
And to add up to all of these,a recent report shows a growing number of homeless youths, sending alarm bells ringing all across Australia. Some pointed out the raising prices of rent as part of the reason for this, along with living conditions at home & a host of other reasons.
But it is still alarming to know that the current prices of houses be it on sale or on lease that is the one common reason for people here to be living out in the cold or making them worry about what tomorrow would bring.
Right now, some people were either living under the fear that their precious house, which they got via loan may soon be taken away from them after years of paying the mortgage coz its getting to the point when they can’t afford to pay for it anymore.
This situation also leaves some people who had worked hard over the years wondering if they could even afford to pay their rents or save to own a house of their own someday.
And the Housing Commission is of no good for the majorty of people as well, specially those who were earning above A$50,000.00 annually as they can be deemed as "over-qualified".
But the reality is,no one at this current time stays in one job, company & amount of annual salary for years.
So what will happen to those "over-qualified" salary earner if the time comes when not only can’t they afford to pay their rent anymore but wouldn’t even qualify for a loan that will enable them to buy a house & pay for it for a certain number of years?
And what would become of the continuing number of homeless people who wont even qualify for cheaper housing commission rental property?
Is this the beginning of the end of the "Australian Dream?"
