International Star: Actress Maria Luna

Although she naturally has the face of an angel, Maria Luna has proven that the strength of her craft exceeds aesthetic limitations. In fact, her cherub-like features make her work even more intriguing, especially when she takes on darker roles like that of Maya Deimos in the film Id, and Martha in the film No Solicitors.

In the mystery apocalyptic film Id, Luna played the challenging role of Maya Deimos, one of four friends who finds refuge in an underground shelter in order to escape the anarchy and destruction that is slowly annihilating the population above ground.

About finding the dark emotions necessary to bring her character to life, Luna said, “I had to find the moments in my life where I fell into the darkest solitude and go there and still find a reason to keep moving forward with a sense of responsibility to the world in order to keep on living.”

To make matters worse, in the film Maya (Maria Luna) and her boyfriend Curtis Kunstler (Zachary Rich) are forced to come to terms with the fact that they might be the only lovers each other will ever have again; and, prior to the destruction of humanity as they know it, they chose to have an abortion.

In the film, which was directed by award-winning director Kevin Kunze who is known for his film Mobilize, Luna stars alongside Raul Delarosa (Opacity, Dead End, Trimmers, Citizens United the Movie, Smoosh).

We see a completely different side of Luna in the film No Solicitors where she plays the critical role of Martha, a mother who goes to incredible lengths to save her only son after he is diagnosed with kidney failure.

Written and directed by Emmy nominated filmmaker John Callas (Lone Wolf), No Solicitors revolves around a well-respected brain surgeon and his family’s secret business of organ farming. From the desperate people in need of organs to the innocent bystanders the family victimizes in order to get the hard to come by products they sell, No Solicitors brilliantly displays the different perspectives of the parties involved in the world of illegal organ trading.

Although Martha (Maria Luna) doesn’t know where her son’s new kidney came from, she doesn’t attempt to question its’ origin as keeping her child alive is her only priority.

About her character Luna said, “My character humanizes the people who are so desperate that they are willing to pay any price in order to save their child.”

Although drama is Maria Luna’s first love, the actress’s unparalleled skill has made her a sought after talent across genres.

“Comedy is also a fun relief at times, and it feels great to play and find the right timing in that genre,” said Luna. And that is exactly what she did in the series La Chamba.

La Chamba has been referred to as the Latin version of The Office. Luna played the critical role of Luna Jones, one of the more levelheaded coworkers in an office full of oddballs, in several episodes of the first season of the series. The series is produced by Marker Studios, the largest content network on YouTube, which has over 650 million subscribers and attracts more than 11 billion views per month.

Since beginning her acting career back home in Madrid, Spain during childhood, Maria Luna has reached an incredible level of success in the entertainment industry, so it comes as no surprise that she is being tapped for roles in high profile productions across continents.

Some of Maria Luna’s other films include The Sheriffs, Dada, Palo Alto, Dawn of Destruction, A Romanian Fairytale, Starship: Rising, and Bipolar Armageddon. She has also played leading roles on the television shows Los Serrano, LA Tap Water and I Love Lucy Adaptation.

This young beauty is definitely one actress you’ll want to keep your eyes out for, because for Luna, the stars are the limit!
