‘Investigative’ has been cheapened to a point where almost anything is called ‘investigative’

I have a dream that one day I will be able to produce a Crime & Investigative news based program which will follow the minimum journalism ethics,the reporters associated with it are not arrogant and disrespectful.The program will not only report a crime being committed in our backyard but will also inform viewers how to prevent crime.For example,if the program unearths a inter-state car theft gang,it also shows the latest technologies to prevent car theft.

The program also wants to create the feelings of community TV.It will work with the close proximity with the Police but wouldn’t hesitate to raise a finger against them.But,the presentation and treatment will be totally different from other programs- more interactive in nature.The program will air only those stories which will be true investigative in nature.The word ‘investigative’ has been cheapened to a point where almost anything is called ‘investigative’.The program wants to change that.The Anchor,Reporters of the program will be behave like crusaders.

The Green Brigade of the program will expose environmental crime.It will be a separate wing under an eminent environmentalist.Part ENG-part documentary,jumping backward and forward-the program will follow some unconventional structures.Anchors will develop their own distinctive style.Reporters will follow the minimum journalism ethics.I usually give importance to the fact that reporters should have the capacity to convince some one to speak out in front of the camera in case of sensitive stories rather than using hide cameras.

Crime programs in local TV stations follow the same structure is something that is difficult to swallow.The program may be in local language(Bengali) but outlook should be global.After all, when you starting some thing new and when the competition is cut throat, it is wiser to adopt an unconventional news structure.
