iPhone developers team has announced the release of Windows version of RedSn0w to Jailbreak iOS 5.0b1. This is a tethered jailbreak and so it is exclusively directed at iphone app developers.
According to the TechJournal, unlockers should not go near this since restoration to iOS5 would result in an upgrade of baseband. The catch-22 is that UltraSnow has not yet updated to the 0.5 level. In case you’re using windows, you may want to jailbreak your iPad 1G, iPod touch 4G/3G, or iPhone 4/3 GS via the Redsnow 0.9.8b1 windows version.
Apple offers Windows iTunes 10.5 for iCloud and iOS5 developers. This means that it’s no longer true that only Mac users have access to the device. Redsnow0.9.8b1 version for Windows is now open for download, but this is only for developers.
The Windows version Redsnow to jailbreak iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone, You would have to run the developer iOS5 firmware build. In addition, the tool utilizes Geohot’ bootrom tethered jailbreak exploit.
The Redsnow 0.9.8b1 carries several caveats: The first of these is Ultrasnow unlockers should not update their iPhone handsets to iOS5 firmware. If this action is performed, it would update the existing baseband to version 04.11.04 – a locked version. Moreover, do not use pirated bits if you have developer access. Apple’s apps and many of the Cydia apps are broken and it is important to keep this in mind. Furthermore, the redsnow is not capable of performing Hacktivate 5.01; you would need to be an iOS developer carrying a registered UDID to be able to navigate past activation screens, reports the TechJournal.
