Iqbal Institute, Bemina hosts Disaster preparedness training

 

          Srinagar, May 16(Scoop News) – One day disaster preparedness training was organised at Iqbal Memorial Institute for Girls Bemina, Srinagar. The programme was organised by J&K Institute of Management & Public Administration (IMPA) in association with Civil Defence, Divisional Disaster Management Authority, Fire & Emergency Services Kashmir. More than 900 students from class 1st to class 12th were sensitised during the training programme. Dr. G.M. Dar, Associate Professor, Disaster Management Centre IMPA explained the basics of Disaster Management to the staff members and students of the Institute.

Aamir Ali, Coordinator Divisional Disaster Management explained about various initiatives for school safety, taken by Divisional Administration under the leadership of Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon. Abdul Ahad Mir and SA Beig from Fire Services spoke about fire safety and its precautionary measures and also demonstrated various fire safety equipments available with the department. Abdul Gaffar and Aijaz Ahmed CD trainers deputed by Rafiq Ahmed, Deputy Controller, Civil Defence explained basics of first aid for school safety. The chairman of the school Dr Yusuf-ul-Umar, Principal, Peerzada Nisar Ahmed and School Site Engineer, Farooq Ahmed were present on the occasion. A fire mock drill was also held and the children were taught how to use a fire extinguisher.
