Iran caught red handed in Afghanistan

During President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s first visit to Kabul, he denied that Iran was aiding the terrorists in Afghanistan.

’These are baseless allegations. Iran is fully backing the political process in Afghanistan’ he said on Aug 14.

As a neighbour and ‘brother’ Islamic country, Iran is supposed to back the political process in Afghanistan and help in maintaining peace, but unfortunately it was confirmed to be only a lip-service as Afghan officials found one hundred Iran-made bombs in Heeratan area of Balkh province. It is not first time that Iranian bombs were being found in Afghanistan, they were also found in Herat, Badghis and other provinces.

On Aug. 06, it was reported internationally that ‘Iranian armour-piercing bombs used with deadly effect in Iraq were being smuggled into Afghanistan for use by the terrorists.'

And there were other incidents like last week Iranian police killed four young Afghans in Herat’s Kohisan district for nothing. Before that Iran forcefully deported hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees to Afghanistan. It was a clear message of enmity to the Afghans.

These incidents show that Iran is involved in smuggling deadly weapons to the terrorists and thus don’t want a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. Isn’t it a proof that the terrorists are active only in those areas bordered to Iran and Pakistan? I think it is a good reason to think about the involvement of these two countries in Afghanistan.

Ahmadinejad’s visit to Kabul was expected to have a good influence on the Afghans who thought Iran was interfering in Afghanistan, and when he told that his country was supporting Afghanistan’s political process, it was welcomed with great respect but the country caught red-handed on the very same day with 100 bombs in the South. It really disappointed us.

When the Taliban were in control in Afghanistan, Iran was uncomfortable and worry with their presence, so both Iran and Pakistan should release that return of the Taliban will bring more trouble to them.

That is why both countries have to abandon support of the terrorists and make some real efforts to end the menace of terrorism. All out support to the political process in Afghanistan will be productive for both the countries. As far as terrorism is continuing in the region we cannot live in peace.
