Iran urges the US and its key allies to stop supplying ISIL terrorists with money and weapons

On October 5, 2014 Fars news reported that the Iranian Deputy Defense Minister for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Brigadier General Reza Talayee Nik called on the supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) to “stop supplying the group and other terrorists with money and weapons.”

A possible reference to the United States, which has recently pledged $500 million to arm terrorists groups in Syria that are closely allied with ISIL , al- Nursa and other groups.

Talayee Nik made the remarks in an interview with Iran-based Arabic-language al-Alam news channel on Saturday.

He called for an end to the supply of money and arms to the ISIL and other terrorist groups operating in Syria and Iraq, and said the ongoing US-led airstrikes against the ISIL in the two countries are “ineffective for uprooting the terrorist group.”

Talayee Nik underlined that Iran will coordinate any necessary action against the ISIL terrorist group with the governments of Iraq and Syria.

“All of our activities (against the ISIL) would be conducted in coordination and cooperation with the governments of Iraq and Syria,” he said.
