Iranian Navy battle Somali pirates to protect international shipping interests in the Gulf of Aden

Elite members of the Iranian Marine commando unit attends a debriefing on actions that ending attempts by Somali pirates to hijacks ships in the Gulf of Aden.

The Iranian Navy’s 31th Flotilla rescued an oil tanker from a pirate attack in Bab el-Mendeb and the Gulf of Aden after a tough battle with Somali pirates in the high seas.

An Iranian oil tanker came under attack by 12 pirate boats in the Bab el-Mendeb on Thursday, but the vessel was rescued due to the timely action of the Iranian Navy warships, the Navy’s Public Relations Office reported on Thursday.

Four Iranian vessels have been attacked in the high seas over the past week, but the timely action of the Iranian warships prevented them from accomplishing their “devilish objectives.” Iranian naval marines swarmed the pirates and engaged them in combat on the high seas. This was not without cost in blood in most cases, as some of the marine commandos were hurt and injured by the pirates.

Marines, also known as a marine corps or naval infantry, are an infantry force that specializes in the support of naval and army operations on land and at sea. In this case Iranian marines are considered special forces and elite force unmatched by any other military force in the Persian Gulf.

Members of the Iranian Navy are renowned for their dedication to duty, even to the point of sacrificing themselves for God (Allah) and country.

Of course these heroic acts on the part of the Iranian navy and the marines in particular are completely ignored by the western media, which chooses instead to portray Iran as an evil despotic enemy hellbent on acquiring nuclear weapons. Nothing could be farther from the troops. Unfortunately Americans just don’t get it?

See article: Ideologically speaking the Ayatollah considers the seeking after or possession of nuclear weapons a “big sin” (see Video: IRAN Ayatollah Khamenei Re-Issues Fatwa Against NuclearWeapons “A Grave Sin” Feb/22/2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95HuFUiAEig).

The flotilla includes Bayandar Destroyer as well as combat logistic warship of Abbas Port which berthed in the port after patrolling in high seas with the message of friendship and peace.

The fleet of warships had escorted thus far 670 military and cargo ships (including those flying under the flag of the United States) and identified and traced trans-regional vessels and aircraft by then. In many instances risking the lives of personnel to protect those interests. Unlike the American Navy – they Iranian don’t need special permission to engage pirates but do so when ever they are threatened or those pirates/terrorists threaten others.

Question: Where is the American navy in all this? Who the heck knows, probably menacing off the coast of Iran someplace? They damn sure are not protecting ships or fighting Somali pirates to the extent the Iranian are.

Iran has taken the lead among the United Nations in its anti piracy efforts and Somali pirates know and fear the Iranian navy above all others.
