“If any threat is made against lran’s interests we will kill it in the bud and give a crushing response to the enemy “, warns Rear Admiral Khadem Biqam

Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Gholamreza Khadem Biqam warned against any threats by enemy nations against his country because Iran’s response will be “crushing” and “rigid.”

Fars News agency in Tehran today is reporting that the Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Gholamreza Khadem Biqam has bluntly warned of the Navy’s “crushing and rigid response to the enemies who would dare to make an aggression against the country.”

“If any threat is made against Iran’s interests we will kill it in the bud and give crushing response to the enemy,” Rear Admiral Khadem Biqam said during a visit to Iran’s Kharg Naval Base in Persian Gulf on Friday.

It should be noted that Biqam did not specifically mention the United States by name. The US is in active negotiations with Iran over its uranium enrichment program at this time.

Rear Admiral Khadem Biqam did however reiterated that “protecting Iran’s interests is one of the main duties of the Navy.” By all accounts Biqam is very serious about this, and is not known to be one who make ideal threats.

Rear Admiral Khadem Biqam is in charge of significant upgrades of the Iranian navy including ongoing efforts to defend that nation against aerial and missile attacks.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems. “Iran is definitely a force to be reckoned with”, said one retired US Navy flag officer I spoke with by email, who asked that we not use his name in this report.

Rear Admiral Biqam said previously in August 2014 that the navy is becoming equipped with more advanced and smarter torpedoes. A significant upgrade!

Additionally Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems, including  UAVs (Unmanned Arial Vehicles). It is known that Iranian UAV can also be equipped with missiles and used for aerial bombardments as well.

Also in August 2014 Biqam underlined that Iran will implement any improvement made in systems and weapons of its new submarines in older subsurface vessels like Qadir class and even Kilo class which are used by the Navy (which are equipped with sonar-evading technology and can fire missiles and torpedoes simultaneously).
