Forget Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain. As political pundits guess who would fill the role of glamorous Jackie O-style first lady, they may be missing the strongest competitor: Huma Abedin.
Who’s she? If Hillary Clinton had a first lady, it would be Huma Abedien. Forget the tawdry lesbian rumors about the sleek young aid and her presidential-hopeful boss. Huma Abedin, a half-Indian, half-Pakistani stunner who worked her way from White House intern to Hillary Clinton’s right-hand gal, embodies the elegance and poise of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis like none other.
Huma’s already been the subject of a Vogue spread. Oscar de la Renta wants to dress her, says the NY Observer. Huma Abedin carries the spotlight well but says little and tries not to attract controversy. Her strongest quote in the Vogue spread came from her boss, Hillary Clinton:
“Huma Abedin has the energy of a woman in her 20s, the confidence of a woman in her 30s, the experience of a woman in her 40s, and the grace of a woman in her 50s. She is timeless, her combination of poise, kindness, and intelligence are matchless, and I am lucky to have had her on my team for a decade now.”
