ISIS fighter taunts and points his American made M-16 in the throat of a captured Iraqi soldier in a Youtube video. This man was later brutally executed.
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont recently spoke out on the issue of American involvement in the Middle East by addressing the issue of ISIS – the radical Islamic terrorist army causing chaos in Syria and Iraq.
His comments are quite interesting:
“ISIS is a brutal, awful, dangerous army and they have got to be defeated. This is not just an American problem it is an international crisis. This is a regional crisis and I think the American people are getting sick and tired of the region, Saudi Arabia and the other countries saying hey we don’t have to do anything about it. The American taxpayer and the American soldiers will do all the work for us…”

The senator went on to say this:
“The self-styled Islamic State in Iraq and Syria will not be defeated unless countries in the region with the most at stake become deeply involved in the effort – including the use of combat troops. Saudi Arabia, for example, has the fourth largest military budget in the world. It’s army is at least seven times greater that the ISIS forces. The U.S. and our allies must support the fight against ISIS, but Bernie voiced concern about the U.S. being dragged into a “perpetual war” in the Mideast that would divert resources from priorities for working families in America”, said Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont serves on five Senate committees: Budget; Veterans; Energy; Environment; and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. He chairs the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He is arguably one the most powerful senators in Congress.
I have a lot of respect for him, but I respectfully disagree that this is not just an American problem – given the fact that the US helped train and armed many of the fighters of ISIS in secret camps in Jordan as part of an misguided effort to prolong the bloody civil war in Syria, overthrow the regime of Bashar Assad and give over the entire country to radical Sunni Islamic extremists.
