Government of Pakistan has agreed to empower Pakistan Administrated Kashmir (PaK) by bring needed amendments in the Interim Act 1974.

This was announced by Pakistani’s Minister for Kashmir Affairs; Manzoor Ahmed Watoo after a highly level meeting joined by   major political parties and former presidents of Pakistan administered Kashmir.

The move comes following a growing resentment among the people and political parties of PaK over controversial authorities and powers of the present Interim Act 1974 which gives more powers to the Islamabad in some important legal and administrative matters.

The Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Manzoor Ahmed Watoo had summoned the high profile meeting on suggested constitutional reforms after growing call among civil society in PaK to settle down few constitutional   and legal matters which downgrade the local government resulting mounting resentment among public Islamabad.

“In order to carry out required amends in PaK Interim Act 1974 the Parliamentary Committee would prepare the legal draft within two months and it would be presented in the joint session of PaK legislative Assemble and Kashmir Council”, he added.

He said that Pakistani premier and president have expressed their consent to empower PaK following government’s policy to strength its administrative units.

In this regard that all political parties of PaK would present their proposal about the constitutional    amendments to the Parliamentary committee.
