PESHAWAR– Pakistan’s NWFP government announced the implementation of Sharia and Adal law systems today in Malakand Division following a Peace Jirga that took place in Peshawar.
Prior to the announcement of Sharia, a Grand Jirga between the government of North West Frontier Province, Pakistan and the defunct Tehrik Nifaze Shariat Mohammadi (TNSM) held in Chief Minister house. In jirga an agreement has been signed between the two parties. Nine personalities including provential information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Live Stock minister Hidayatullah, health minister Zahir Ali Shah, fiance minister Hamayoon Khan, interior sectery Fayaz Toro, secretary law Mohammad Farooq, and TNSM vice-chief Maulana Mohammad Alam, spokesman to tehreek Amir Ezat Khan and member shura Badsha Sarwar Khan have inked their signatures on the agreement.
A copy of this annoucement has been recieved by this correspondent, according to which all the anti-sharia laws in Malakand division and district Kohistan will be considered ineffective.
"After succesful talks between NWFP govt and chief TNSM Maulana Sofi Mohammad, provencial govt decided that all the anti-sharia laws-laws against Quran and Hadees-will consider defunct and ineffective", according to the script of agreement.
"No decision will be acceptable against Shariat Mohammadi decision and one can appeal to Sharia court bench for review of the decision and its decision will be final", according to the agreement transcript.
"Complete Sharia will be imposed with mutual commitment after establishing peace in five distrists of Malakand division and district Kohistan of Hazara division after considerations in detail on every point of sharia system with mutual cooperation and suggestions of Maulana Sofi Mohammad," read the statement.
