Israel-Hamas Truce ‘Critically Important’: Mitchell
George Mitchell who is envoy of U.S. Middle East says it is critically important to extend and merge a cease-fire in the conflict between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers.

Today he said that Washington supports Egypt’s efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas militants who control the Gaza. He talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and was speaking in Cairo.

The new Obama administration is dedicated to pursuing Middle East peace and stability. So his visit to the region is a clear sign.

The U.S. ambassador also visits Israel today to snoop to the outlook of Israeli leaders on refreshing the peace process. Tomorrow Mitchell travels next to the West Bank for talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He does not meet Hamas militants .

Mitchell’s discussion in Egypt was "creative.” his mission is to hear from U.S. allies about how to reach a sustainable cease-fire between Israel and Hamas and how to achieve a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by The U.S. State Department.

Aboul Gheit views a sustainable truce in Gaza can be reached in the first week of February.Yesterday Palestinian President Abbas said that the recent Israeli offensive against Gaza’s Hamas rulers proves that Israel does not want peace.

In 2007 Hamas held control of Gaza, ousting Fatah forces loyal to Mr. Abbas and confining his authority to the West Bank.
