Israel to Accept Injured Palestinians for Medical Treatment

Israel will allow injured Palestinians to enter the Jewish state to seek medical assistance and treatment. The announcement said that an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will be set up tomorrow at the Erez crossing in the Israel territory.

As Inquirer.net. reported, Israel will allow wounded Palestinians during its 22-day old Israel-Hamas war to enter the Jewish state for treatment beginning on Sunday, according to a government statement.

‘Within the framework of the humanitarian effort coordinated by the government , an intensive care unit will be open tomorrow at the Erez crossing to treat injured Gaza residents, said a statement Saturday from the office of the welfare Minister Isaac Herzog.

Under the agreement reached between Minister Herzog and the Red Cross, injured Gazans will be transported to hospitals in the country according to their medical condition.’ it said.

The International Red Cross however said that it was not informed of the Israel action or arrangement.

Earlier Israel announced a unilateral ceasefire which will take effect at 2 a.m. local time, but Hamas said that it will not stop attack on Israel territory until Israel troops leave the area and existing blockades are opened.

The 22-day old war has resulted in the death of over one thousand people and injuring thousands of civilians including children.

Diplomats from across Europe are meeting in Egypt to find lasting solution to the three week old war.

In the meantime, everyone in Gaza is waiting for Israel’s unilateral ceasefire announcement to take effect and to see what will happens next.
