Majed Harazin is the most senior militant to be killed in a year according to the reports. He is accused by Israel of leading rocket and mortar attacks. There was an attack on Harazin’s car that killed an associate with the Islamic Jihad. Ten other militants were killed as a result of three other air raids by the Israeli military.
The deaths were depicted as a big loss to the Islamic Jihad. They have threatened to swear in retaliation, a wave of operations of martyrdom.
On Tuesday, thousands took to the streets in funeral processions for the dead militants. The bodies of the dead militants were wrapped in black Islamic Jihad flags.
Mourners fired shots into the air at one of the funerals. A high-voltage power line was severed injuring five people as a result.
This is a small radical group in the region to launch most of the rockets from Gaza. The Israel military struck after dark in Gaza City. They would kill Harazan and another militant. A third passenger along with six bystanders was wounded as a result.
In the north part of West Bank, a military commander with Islamic Jihad was also killed.
Hamas has linked the attacks by Israel with the donors’ conference in Paris on Monday. At the conference, seven billion dollars in aid would be provided for the Palestinian Authority.
“This escalation is linked to [the] conference… which we considered a declaration of war on Palestinian resistance,” said Sami Abu-Zuhri, a spokesman for Hamas.
Mahoud Abbas, Palestine’s president condemned the attacks by Israel. However, he also called the rocket attacks by Hamas as useless.
