Ist phase of Panchayat Elections in JK passes peacefully

Jammu,April 13 (Scoop News) –    The Ist phase of Panchayat Elections-2011 passed on peacefully in the State today with large number of people participating in electing 288 Sarpanches and 2118 Panches in 8 CD blocks.

According to offical spokesman  the Election were held on 56 Sarpanch Constituencies and 436 Panch Constituencies in CD block Kupwara, 43 Sarpanch and 287 Panch Constituencies in CD block Kangan, 36 Sarpanch and 282 Panch Constituencies in CD block Budgam, 23 Sarpanch and 160 Panch Constituencies in CD Block Quimoh (Main), 13 Sarpanch and 95 Panch Constituencies in CD Block Quimoh (Partly), 46 Sarpanch and 332 Panch Constituencies in CD Block Udhampur, 33 Sarpanch and 242 Panch Constituencies in CD Block Samba and 38 Sarpanch and 284 Panch Constituencies in CD Block Bishnah.

            The poll percentage remained 86.2 % in Kupwara, 77.87 % in Kangan, 72% in Budgam, 77.87% in Quimoh (Main), 77.34 in Quimoh (Partly), 80.49 % in Udhampur, 82% in Samba and 80 % in Bishnah with a total percentage of 80.77% in all the three blocks.
