Isola Capo Rizzuto, Mar 17: Facebook has helped Italian police net a dangerous mafia boss Pasquale Manfredi, nicknamed ‘Scarface’.
Scarface, who has been on the run since Nov 2009, was located through his Facebook visits. He was accessing the social networking site with a prepaid pen drive.
Tracing 30-year-old Manfredi to an apartment building in Isola Capo Rizzuto, the police rushed to action. When they raided the apartment, Manfredi reportedly tried to escape across the roof.
But he was forced to surrender as he was surrounded.
Manfredi is one among the country’s 100 ‘most dangerous’ fugitives and is described as ‘cold and calculating’.
He faces murder charges, charges of arms trafficking and extortion.
