I’ve Been Told Butterflies Fetch Good-Luck

I watch a butterfly land on my shoulder
its beauty’s awe-inspiring
try to capture its gaze and keep it near.
Butterflies I’ve been told fetch luck
to a person if they make direct contact
astounded at its coloring and markings.

Is it reading my mind and taking notes?
A stunning creature gifted to soar and float
parades flappable forceful wings
bequeaths an impression on those watching
no cares in the world
delicate, fragile, but yet stronger and capable.

It’s vulnerable in many ways
it doesn’t appear to worry though
exhibits security, determination, and enjoyment.
I itch to have such traits
to improve weaknesses’ and failings’
of insecurities in past times and stages in life.

It’s strange how a human being is in awe
of flying creatures desiring to attain their strength.
Butterflies I’ve been told fetch luck…
is it reading my mind and taking notes?
Their beauty and gifts leave me in amazement
as I study its exquisiteness and impressiveness…

I watch a butterfly sitting on my shoulder.
