I’ve Never Regretted Delaying The Vows

Poetry From The Heart

The sun tips its hat as I greet the day
huff the fresh air in, exhaling in puffs
stand in awe at the beauty of a spring scene
remember nights he leaned me against the barn
hugging and kissing for what seemed like an eternity
an experience of love and want wrapped into one.

His round eyes showed anxiety and desires
we’d been dating almost a year
I was a virgin and innocent as a child
Michael was aware of it and never gets out of line
respects my body and never tries to touch
areas where hands are forbidden.

We’d agreed to delay till our vows
aspirations are great but…its hands off.
He often talks about that night
it appears to give him strength to wait.
Our kisses are strong and passionate though
as our desires scream help please!

Years passed and there were no oaths
Michael shipped out to sea with the Navy
met and married another woman
waited years before I knew he was married.
The sun tips its hat as I greet another day
I’ve never regretted delaying our vows.
