Jammu, November 12 (Scoop News) – The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, called on the Governor, N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan, here today.
In their over one and a half hour meeting the Governor and the Chief Minister held wide ranging discussions which covered, interalia, issues relating to militancy; internal security situation; measures to enforce greater accountability and honesty in the functioning of Administration and the effective functioning of the Statutory bodies/Commissions which have been created to secure these objectives; amendments in the existing law and conduct of elections for empowering people within the Panchayati Raj set-up; matters relating to the return of Kashmiri Pandits etc.
The Governor briefed the Chief Minister about his recent visits to the Gurez, Tilel and Marwah areas and the need for time-bound measures being taken for resolving the problems of those who live in these remote and unconnected areas. In this context Governor suggested the usefulness of granting incentives and adopting innovative approaches to ensure against all work coming to a halt with the onset of winter in these cut-off areas. The Chief Minister informed the Governor about the various steps he had taken to personally monitor the implementation of all development projects in the State.
