On the auspicious day(fourth day) of Kanya Pongal bull fights are organised in different parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh .Madhurai, Tiruchirapalli and Tanjore in Tamil Nadu are famous for this kind of Bull fight called Jallikattu. Bundles of money are tied to the horns of bulls, unarmed villagers try to pick the bundles from these bulls.Every year several people are injured in this dangerous sport and its the part of the culture of local people.Several hundred people gather to watch these Bull fights.It is usually held in January 15 every year.Jallikattu is basically a Bull taming game.It requires skill and bravery.
Unlike in Spain and other parts of Europe,unarmed people try to specify these ferocious and wounded bulls.Casualties are much higher in Jallikattu than bull fights in Spain and other parts of Europe.In recent past more than 250 people were killed in Bull fights in India because participants can not use arms to protect themselves.
