Jammu, October 27(Scoop News)- A large number of people thronged mosques across the Jammu region on Saturday to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The people offered nimaz in the Mosques of their respective areas and prayed for communal harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the state. Dressed in their best, the devotees were seen enthusiastic thronging mosques, shrines and Eidgahs (prayer grounds) to offer Eid prayers.
The biggest congregation in Jammu district was held at Eidgah, Residency Road where Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmed Khan with thousands of people offered prayers and prayed for well being of people of the state.
Among others, MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria, Provincial President National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta, President National Conference Sewa Dal Pankaj Kohli, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pardeep Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today visited Bathindi and Malik market Eidgahs and exchanged Eid-ul-Azha greetings with Muslim brethren.
Extending Eid greetings, Bhalla said that this joyous occasion would be a harbinger of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity, which are the hallmark of the State’s glorious pluralistic culture. He maintained that such festivals teach us peace, brotherhood, amity and hoped that the occasion will further strengthen the bonds of love and peace among the people of the State.
“Let us pledge today to work unitedly for peace, prosperity and well being of the State and its people”, asserted Bhalla.
