Jammu,May 26 (Scoop News) – Jammu Doordarshan organized a special programme before invited audience here today in the memory of great singer Pandit Vijay Malla, who passed away recently. A film titled “Suron ka Behta Dariya” produced by Jammu Doordarshan was screened on the occasion. The film has been conceived by Shabbir Mujahid, the Director of Jammu Doordarshan and directed by Dr. Sohan Kaul in a most creative and poignant manner.
Renowned singers and artist from all over the State paid musical tributes to Pandit Vijay Malla by singing Urdu and Kashmiri ghazals and bhajans, some of which have been immortalized by Pandit Vijay Malla in his soulful and melodious voice. The singers who participated in the programme included Waheed Jeelani, Munir Meer and Shazia Bashir from Srinagar and Sham Sajan, Jeevan Sharma, Deepali Wattal, Suraj Singh, Dharmesh Nargotra , Dr. Usha Kher and other theatre and film personalities, like kusum tikoo, mohan singh, upender udadhaya, rajkumar bhat, chandershekhar, surinder goel, and both electronic and press media were also present to give tribute
Vineet Malla, son of Pandit Vijay Malla, also sang a composition that he had learnt from his father. The programme was attended by artistes, poets, writers and intellectuals of the city as also friends and family members of Pandit Vijay Malla. The programme was compered by Ravinder Kaul.
