After the two months long economic blockade to Kashmir Valley during the Amarnath land row which resulted in conflicting relation between the traders of Kashmir and Jammu, both are once again heading towards a full scale war which could spread across the country if not settled at the earliest.
Where the Kashmiri traders have refused to take goods from the traders in Jammu, the Jammu traders are preparing and strengthening their grounds to pressurize the Kashmiri traders to trade with Jammu traders as it was done earlier. Relevent to mention here that majority of the Kashmiris traders have started direct trade with trade house from outside Jammu which is resulting into major losses to Jammu traders.
Concerned over the move of Kashmiris traders, Jammu Business Coordination Committee (JBCC), constituted recently by Jammu Commission Forwarding Agents (JCFA) and Distributors Association to fight against which they described as blackmail by a section of Kashmiri traders, on the instigation of separatists, to sever trade ties with their counterparts in Jammu, has expressed anguish over the highly unreasonable and suicidal path adopted by some trade organizations of Kashmir, who have close rapport with the secessionists and religious fundamentalists in Kashmir.
A meeting of the Coordination Committee held here today under the chairmanship of Kulbushan Mohtra appealed to all Commission, Forwarding Agents and Distributors of Jammu region to unite under the umbrella of the Jammu Business Coordination Committee, to safeguard their common business interests and give befitting reply to the Kashmiri separatists who are exploiting the dealers in Kashmir and threatening them against having any dealings with Jammu Distributors and Commission Forwarding Agents.
Speaking in the meeting, Mohtra said that presently 130 Commission, Forwarding Agents and Distributors in Jammu region are the members of Jammu CFA and Distributors Association, who have automatically become a part of Jammu Business Coordination Committee. But there are still few distributors in the region who are not on the role of the Association. He appealed to them to join for a common struggle to safeguard their business interests. Mohtra also appealed to all the trade and business organizations of Jammu as CII, Federation of Business as well as various Associations of Industrialists in Jammu to support their struggle for calling the bluff and blackmail of some anti India elements in Kashmir who are exploiting the traders there. The Jammu Business Coordination Committee once again appealed to the Kashmiri traders to desist from a disastrous course of creating further wedge between Jammu and Kashmir regions and not create the conditions wherein Jammu and ultimately the country is forced to boycott Kashmiri fruit, which can lead to damages of the fruit and bring the fruit growers and dealers in Kashmir to the point of starvation. Jammu as well as the country can easily do without Kashmiri apples and other fruits, which are now amply grown in Himachal Pradesh.
